TV I'm enjoying

Green Lantern the Animated series. The first couple episodes of this really felt aimed at the younger set, but the show really got going after awhile. The entire 13 episodes or so, tie in together as one nice arc. And as Green Lantern stories go, it's very entertaining. Razor and Ia tend to be my fovorites, but that's as it should be. Hal actually works best when he is a supporting character in his own series, and while he has a couple episodes that really harken back to the 60s Green Lantern stories in my Dad's old comic box that I fell in love with the character from, It's probably the Razor arc I really enjoyed most. 1st season just ended this past Saturday.

Young Justice: Invasion. YJ does a bold move in their second season, they jump ahead 5 years, change up the characters and the team and leave 1st season viewers scratching their heads wondering: "What the hell just happened?".

YJ season 2 is the DCU at it's best, I wish, very much wish that the recent New 52 DCU reboot in the comics was anywhere near this well thought out or bold in reconstructing the DC universe. While there are only a handful of episodes left, and the series won't be back for a 3rd season. It was a great ride while it lasted and should become a favorite of future fans once it hits the streams and DVDs in it's entirety.

Game of Thrones Season 2. This is the sort of show that only only HBO can make. A vast cast, many locations, plots and subplots. Really really great TV. We recently almost caught up last week with a 3 episode mini marathon. Currently we are one episode behind, but likely we'll binge on last week's and this week's tonight.

Game of Thrones is the sortof TV that makes you hate movies, because so few movies can do in their two hours what a show like this can do over a season. Good Stuff.

Men In Black 3

Jenn and I saw Men In Black 3 at the cheap early show at the Star Theatre on Alpine today.

Not a bad movie, not much too it really, fairly small in scope and cast, and felt less like a full sequel and more like an epilogue or a little tack on to the other movies.

Best part of the movie, Josh Brolin who does a dead on fantastic impersonation of Tommy Lee Jones for much of the film.

If you like the MIB films, you'll like this, don't expect much though, there ain't much to it.

Nesting

We got a nest. It's a smart thermostat that you don't have to program. It learns the times you like certain temperatures based on how you adjust it. It also has motion detectors and knows when you are home and when you've left, and it can adjust your temperature accordingly. Because it learns it also anticipates when you come back etc. It's wi-fi enabled and it has Android and iOS apps that allow you to control your thermostat from anywhere in the world that you can have an internet connection.

It's very neat.

Probably will be more so in the winter. You don't really adjust your thermostat in the summer much. Other than killing the air conditioning during the middle of the day while you're at work, you're probably going to want to keep the temperature in the low to mid 70s while your home and overnight in the Summer.

I suppose in the winter you'll have the added change of setting the thermostat back at night abit, since you're snuggled in under the covers anyway.

In anycase, while not a life-changing device, it is interesting. And the app is cool. Now temperature and humidity of the house is just a phone app glance away. And that's sort of a curious thing to be able to do.

Ematic Android 4.0 10 Inch Tablet Priced at $219
source: Tablet News

As these tablets and even the iPad have gotten cheaper lately, I've started to feel more pessimistic on tablets changing much. It feels like they are just moving computer use more firmly into the consumption category and lessening people's perceived needs for offices or office sections as a homebase for their computers.
